Cape Town in 3 days... ok- let's back track. My best friend Zac and I met in Iceland our freshman year in college, we became inseparable until we graduated and he moved to Cape Town to pursue his masters. Of course we always said it would be fun for me to visit but never did I really expect myself to fly across the world (I didn't have an excess of money and I didn't like the idea of going alone). Fast forward to last year, I realize it's Zac's last year in his master's and I didn't want to miss the opportunity to visit such a beautiful country. I decided I would go, but I needed a travel buddy who would be down to do activities that I would want to do. I asked our good friend Bianca (who we also became super close with freshman year in undergrad- we were all marine science majors) and thankfully by July, Bianca confirmed she was down. To put this timeline in perspective, we didn't start planning this trip until literally a little over a month before we left. Thankfully we are all great at planning travel and of course it helped to have Zac and his expertise on the sights to see!

My main bucket list items--- ah what am I saying, I had no 'real' bucket list items. My goal of this trip was to explore all aspects of Cape Town- the mountains, the ocean, the culture, and wildlife. Not everything was set and stone before we left, mainly because we did not book excursions (except for the shark-cage diving which you can see in the Gansbaai video), we were relying on Zac and his friends to help make all aspect possible to experience. By the grace of God everything fell together- of course there were some setbacks, but for one setback there was always a new adventure waiting.

I must admit the title of this video is misleading, this video includes footage which could become a three-day itinerary. However, in reality we arrived Friday in the afternoon and went on an evening hike. Saturday we waited out some rain, explored Waterfront and Table Mountain, and enjoyed a lovely dinner at Constantia Glenn Vineyard. Sunday Zac and I watched the most stunning sunrise at St. James Tidal pools, then went on my first kelp dive off Windmill Beach lead by Zac and his local friend Nina, and then we enjoyed the afternoon in Simon's town. Monday consisted of Bianca and I exploring Boulder's Beach, Lion Head Mountain, and Clifton Beach. Tuesday was all in Gansbaai and Wednesday we snuck a trip to Cape of Good Hope (which has its own video) right before our morning flight left.

Traveling through so many time zones was confusing but our entire was from Sept 26-Oct 5 (aka pre-tourist season, spring-time), with a 9hr layover in Qatar both ways (thankfully Qatar Airways lets you leave the airport so we took a 3hr guided tour of the city before hoping on our flight to CPT).

If you have any questions on traveling this time of the year or the locations we visited, drop a comment! Hope you enjoy the video :)
