Welcome or welcome back! Today's video is possibly my favorite day of our whole trip. It was a jampacked day as we toured the golden circle and part of the south coast all in 24 hours. We started our day driving from Reykjavik to Sólheimajökull for our glacier hiking tour. This experience was absolutely amazing, and I felt as though I was living out my National Geographic childhood dreams. It was 3 hours of exploring the glacier without anyone else around for the majority of it. We found multiple crevasses, many areas of tunneling, and even found this massive glacial cave. To make our glacier hike that much more memorable, our guide strung up a hammock for us to hang out in for a while.
Following the hike, we drove up the southern coast to rejoin the golden circle. The first place we stopped on the way back to the circle was seljalandsfoss and gljufrabuifoss which happens to be the hidden cave waterfall. Following the breathtaking waterfalls, we made our way to Kerid before going to Fridheimer for late lunch. Friðheimar the restaurant was closed by the time we got there so we actually went to wine bar and bistro since they still served a decently large menu. This may very well have been the best tomato soup of my life. If we had more time, I would have liked to have done their farm tour.  It was almost 5 by the time we got back on the road, so we had to fast track our plans to be able to still see Thingvellir. We ultimately skipped both faxafoss and bruarfoss. For a brief walking break we did go see the strokkur geyser and surronding geothermal area. The last stop on our trip were Gullfoss which is the biggest waterfall in Iceland and all of Europe by volume. Our final stop was Thingvellir which is a UNESCO world heritage site due to the nature and the fact it is home to the creation of Iceland's parliament which is the oldest in the world.
