April is here and trout are starting to hone in on one of our favorite mayflies - the Blue Winged Olive/BWO/Baetis. After seeing midges for months on end, trout welcome this diminutive olive bodied mayfly readily, especially as the hatch strengthens and peaks through the month of April. While blue-winged olives might not be the biggest of bugs, anyone who has fished the South Platte, Arkansas, or Colorado on a cloudy spring day, knows that this can be one of the most productive hatches of the year.

With many of our state's freestones are starting to open up from top to bottom, Trouts Denver's own Regional Manager, Tanner Smith, and Head Guide, Scott Dickson, fished the middle Colorado. Fishing was good.
