Hi Everyone!
Welcome back to all those who are returning and welcome to all those who are new~
Last time I was in Paris, it was back in 2018 with my middle sister, Sarra. Here's the link if you haven't seen it yet! https://youtu.be/cNAVWy7GdXI?si=VzQo0O0fusJuVUWu
This time, on April 25, 2023, I went to Paris with my mom!
From April 25, 2023-May 5, 2023, I went to Europe with my mom! It was very spontaneous. I booked everything about a week before on April 12th. We hit 3 countries: France, Switzerland & Italy. My mom has only been to England & Iceland so she really wanted to go back and experience more.
Excluding travel days to and from Europe, we spent 2 days in France (Paris & Palace of Versailles), 3 days in Switzerland (1 day Zurich, 1 day Interlaken, 1 day Jungfrau), 4 days in Italy (1 day Lake Como, 1 Day Milan, 2 days Venice).
We took an afternoon flight on April 25th and arrived in Paris on April 26th where we spent the full day in Paris. The flight itself wasn't bad at all! It wasn't that full so we were able to get a middle seat opened so we had a row to ourselves. We liked the fact that they gave us dinner and we were able to knock out the rest of the flight and be woken up to breakfast. Once we got off the plane, we followed the signs to take the subway to the city center Paris. Unfortunately the trains were severely delayed and PACKED so we were stuck in the station for over an hour (the internet did not forewarn this; otherwise we would've taken an alternate route). It didn't matter too much though as we couldn't check into our airbnb until the afternoon anyway. So we went and grabbed lunch at a nearby cafe that the host recommended before heading over to the airbnb. We had a little hiccup where we found a bed bug on our bed; however, it's most likely from the subway as we found it on top of the bed (very unhygenic subways so not shocked). Unfortunately this threw our day off as we were now paranoid and the host had to get an exterminator to inspect the airbnb and airbnb was telling us we had to find our own place to stay the night-all the while we already had plans for the rest of the day. So we changed and left the airbnb to go to Saint Chapelle where we had a set appointment time to get there by. Luckily we made it right on time. The church is small but if you want to admire the stain glass extensively, i can see one staying here for awhile. It's nice because it's right near the Notre Dam (still under construction) and not too far of a walk to the Louvre. We unfortunately couldn't buy tickets online but it worked out as there was only a small line to get into the museum and we were able to hit all the major points! Got to check out places I didn't get to last time. Definitely killed my legs by the end haha. We then took the subway to go to the Arch de Triomphe. I thought that there were more shopping centers near here but I was mistakened. We then walked from the Arch to the Seine where we took a cruise tour of the city which was nice - very cheap as you get an audio tour as well as a free dessert (crepe or ice cream) - SO good. We then enjoyed the Eiffel tower in all it's glory before heading back to our airbnb.
Although there was slight panic in the beginning & tiredness from the journey as well as all the walking, it was definitely a packed full day of enjoying Paris.
I can't wait to share with you all the different countries we explored. It was truly one for the books! I hope you enjoyed Paris! Stay tuned for more~
Definitely recommend traveling with just your parents at least once in your life. Makes you appreciate one and other & it's nice to enjoy each other's company when you're older!
If anyone has any questions or comments, feel free to let me know!~
