Tie Dye with Coffee:

1. I prepped the sweatshirt by letting it soak in boiled water with vinegar (50/50), rinsed it in cold water and let it dry.
2. Then I tied up the sweatshirt by using the scrunch technique. (just google it)
3. As you saw I added warm coffee to the sweatshirt by using a spoon. (THIS FAILED- it ended up looking more like cow spots LOL ). So I would recommend either soaking the whole piece of clothing in coffee (or whatever dye you're using) (ps. make sure you tie it real tight) OR fill a bottle you can squeeze with the dye and use that when applying the dye to the tied up sweatshirt. then the dye gets distributed better.
4. leave for as long as possible. when you rinse it will cold water a lot of the dye will leave the piece of clothing, so don't be afraid to leave it for longer than you think you should.

(I'm no expert! so this is just my experience with it. The outcome will depend on the fabric you're working with (natural fibers that are not blended will work better than synthetic fibers) what dye you're using, the concentration of the dye compared to water and how long you're leaving it in for. if you want the fabric to pick up the dye better and for it to stay you need to use a mordant based on what kind of dye you're using - you can google your way to what mordant you need for whatever dye you're using!
