• ROUTE GUIDE
Sgurr Mor is one of the most remote Munros (mountain over 3000ft) in Scotland. I hiked over from Strathan at the head of Loch Arkaig to spend two nights in the lonely bothy at Kinbreack. It was so cold, maybe -10, and my water bottle froze even inside the bothy with the fire lit. To be fair, the fire was pretty pathetic. I carried in a bag of logs for two nights which didn't last very long.
The next day I climbed onto Sgurr an Fhuarain (901m) 06:04 and then along the ridge to the summit of Sgurr Mor (1003m) 09:33. There was plenty of snow and it was good to get the crampons and ice axe out.
As you can see in the film there was a beautiful cloud inversion and wonderful views as far as Ben Nevis 10:57, Mull and Skye. The mountains to the west of Sgurr Mor are the Knoydart hills 10:47 with the prominent pyramidal peak of Sgurr na Ciche 10:27 dominating the view. Knoydart is very special to me as I lived there for seven years, working as a countryside ranger.

• MOUNTAIN SAFETY
Remember that hiking and mountain climbing can be dangerous. The videos on my channel are for entertainment only (other than where specified). Always prepare well and be willing to abandon a trip if it becomes dangerous due to weather or unexpected trail conditions. If you are new to hiking and the great outdoors it's always a good idea to go with a guide or a more experienced companion. And remember - give the wildlife some space, leave no trace, go quietly and enjoy it out there!

• A word on DRONES
I know how annoying it can be to hear a drone whizzing about when you are trying to enjoy the peace and solitude of wild places. I'm also aware of the potential to disturb wildlife with them. I always avoid flying the drone when there are other hikers around. It's one of the reasons I tend to hike at less popular times of day and in mid-week and I avoid using the drone if I do see others nearby. I never fly a drone towards wildlife or where birds are likely to be nesting.
