In this episode, we are sailing to Hiva Ova to clear into French Polynesia. We soon discover we had not done our homework properly and got quite a surprise. Without a long stay visa we now only get 90 days here. Same rules for Schengen and EU citizens. We meet a Norwegian couple that has just crossed the Pacific on their custom-built performance cruiser. They sailed 4000 nautical miles nonstop in only 19 days! Not surprised as the weight of this boat is not even 50% of the ballast (keel) weight on BE FREE. We were invited for the best dinner I have had in years, and once again experience one of the most beautiful things with this lifestyle, and that's all the friends you make. We prioritize our time to enjoy and rest, hang out with our friends, and enjoy beach life. Still lots of things that need to be addressed on board, but now we wanna enjoy paradise. French Polynesia is big, in fact, it's the size of Europe. So we have not even scratched the surface of what's out here. But so far we love the Marqueses and are blown away by the hospitality and friendly people.
This is definitely a great start to our new adventure.

ABOUT THIS CHANNEL:
Sailing around the world in a Bavaria 55 Cruiser, making videos whenever we have time for it. I used to sail singlehanded and occasionally have sailing friends onboard. But now the permanent crew aboard BE FREE is including Gee from Holland. We are now exploring the pacific ocean.
Even though this is season 5 on youtube I did not make that many videos in the beginning. Before full-time sailing, I sailed several seasons in the Medetorian prior to this, and obviously also in Scandinavia. I have been traveling the world before and have also been an active regatta sailor. I had my first sailboat at age 7 and have been sailing ever since. Also, more than 10 years of experience in Search and Rescue at sea in Norway.

I'm just a normal person sharing my travel adventure through my eyes and experience from my perspective! Remember how I do things that might work for me but not for you. It might even not be the correct way to do things, and I don't have the blueprint either. I'm not perfect and nobody is. The day I believe I know it all and don't think I can learn new things I should go ashore.
