Weekly Economic Outlook... The G7 Summit, NATO, a bilateral with Putin - and continuing fears about inflation on both sides of the Atlantic: Andrew Hilton offers his analysis.

Why you should watch: A big week for Western leaders - though Carbis Bay was probably more of a photo op than a major step forward. Monday's NATO Summit and Wednesday's Biden-Putin bilateral may be more substantial. But note the Cold War rhetoric around China; not good news for those who pinned their hopes on a Biden return to 'normalcy'. Economically, the World Bank has joined those predicting rapid recovery in the rich countries - but it also paints a dire picture of prospects for the poorest. Meanwhile, inflation data continues to undermine the arguments of both central banks and Treasuries that we really need to keep 'the pedal to the metal'. We are way into scary territory.

In his Weekly Economic Outlook, Andrew Hilton, the CSFI’s Director, discusses the current crisis, its impact on the global economy, and what we may be missing.

Andrew is a former World Bank economist, who also ran a small economic consultancy advising international clients, particularly in the Middle East. He has an MA from New College, Oxford, an MBA from Wharton, and an MA and PhD from the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a Thouron Scholar and Kent Fellow.
