Sarah Louise Rung is Norway's most decorated Paralympian. The 27-year-old swimmer has won four golds, three silvers and two bronze medals at the Paralympics, and she currently holds eight world records. Born and raised in Stavanger, on Norway's western coast, her story is one of quiet inspiration. In September 2008, the then 18-year-old was advised by doctors to have a misalignment in her back corrected to avoid problems in later life. The surgery did not go as planned; a number of nerves were severed in her spinal cord and the teenager lost the ability to walk again.
